Douglas E. Naumann (1937 - 2017)
The folk community has lost another member of the angel band.
Doug Naumann,of Crystal Beach, passed away June 27, 2017, had a long history of playing music and supporting the folk community. He sponsored old time banjo workshops with Dwight Dillard, attended Elkins Music Camp several times. He also supported Friends of Florida Folk, Southern Traditions, Soggy Bottom Bluegrass, helped build the barn at Sertoma, and the FOTMC - Florida Old Time Music Championships
Doug played in the Crystal Beach Sand Crabs, Yum Yum, Southwind and played old-time banjo with the Wednesday Fiddle Support Group. He played the trumpet, banjo and bass,among other things. His hobbies included, musician, teacher, pilot, sky diver, scuba diver, boater, classic car buff, fitness instructor, and gym owner. He was an Eagle Scout and proudly served in the U.S. Army and among other duties, their band and swim team.
He was always will to share his successes with others,Including taking trips to his West Virginia home in the mountains, hosting jams and parties, and staying at his house.
