The idea behind the Fast-Pitch Showcase concept is to give as many musicians as possible a chance to perform in front of an audience;  and, of course, to give an audience a chance to experience multiple artists in an abbreviated time span. The showcase time will be  limited to 12 minutes each.  Per well-known musician Jack Williams who witnessed similar (only shorter) fast-pitch showcases at a SE Region Folk Alliance Conference:  "It's a bit like a test of the artists' skill at taking control of an onstage situation - which provides a great deal of insight into his or her ability to perform and hold an audience in spite of less-than-ideal circumstances. It was very interesting to watch and gratifying to see how many of the SERFA artists rose to the challenge and did a great job."
